7 Things to do While Your Business is Closed Due to Covid-19

It's scary. It's hard. It's uncertain.

It's all of those things and more. We don't know how to react, we don't know how to plan, we don't know the right thing or the wrong thing to do. All we know is that we've been told to shutdown. So, what do we do?

First, let's all breathe. One deep breath. Okay. We're not going to tell you all the cliche things to do right now, because most of you will still worry. You'll still wonder. Maybe at least try to just focus on what you can control? That is what this list is for. What can we do while our business is closed due to Covid-19?

Here are 7 things we're doing while waiting to get back up and running.

1. Offering encouragement and positivity to our online community.
2. Updating our process and procedures.
3. Brainstorming ways to help our community.
4. Personal/professional development.
5. Reaching out to clients/customers.
6. Plan to up our marketing game.
7. Resting with family and doing things we normally don't do...

Let's jump in to what this may look like.

1. Offer encouragement to online community.
Now, more than ever it is important for us to stay connected to our community. Be a leader in this time, be that place people look for a breath of fresh air.

2. Update process and procedures.
Let's face it. This is always pushed to the back burner. Now is the time to prepare for your busy seasons. Make it less stressful for yourself and your staff. Get those processes in place.

3. Brainstorm ways to help your community.
Both online and where you work and live. What is a solution you can offer right now? How can you really help? That is what this time is all about. We're stronger together!

4. Personal/professional development.
Learn something new about your industry. Work on time management. Take a communication course.

5. Reaching out to clients/customers.
Let them know you're thinking about them. Ask how their family is. Ask what they have planned during this time. Just let them know you care.

6. Make a marketing plan.
How will you reach new clients in the future? Where do you want to be seen? What marketing avenue can you or should you explore next?

7. Rest.
Do something for YOU! As business owners we're our minds are in 100 different places and we don't always take time to try a new hobby, cook a meal, or just hangout with family. Do these things. You will come back stronger and ready to take on the next obstacle.

Remember, you can't control Covid-19, or when we can open our doors again, but you can control what you do in preparation. Now, if you need to, take another deep breath. We can get through this time!
